Company profile

Established in 2005, Energy Resources LLC is a national mining company and one of Mongolia’s top tax contributors. The company is a primary producer and exporter of high-quality washed coking coal in Mongolia. The company was founded through a joint investment by reputable national companies of Mongolia including MCS group, Petrovis group, and Shunkhlai group etc. Since 2009, the company has operated the Ukhaa khudag coking coal mine in Tsogttsetsii Soum, Umnugobi aimag, under a mining license 11952A. In 2010, after only one year of fast-paced operations, the Company was successfully listed on the main board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, making it the first Mongolian company to offer its shares internationally. Within a short period of launching operations, the company developed a world-class coal industrial complex at Ukhaa khudag. The infrastructure development included Mongolia’s first Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP), an 18 MW power plant, a water supply system, a residential complex, and an integrated school and kindergarten campus among others. As of 2026, Energy Resources has nearly 2,900 direct employees, roughly 40% of whom are local Umnugobi residents. Across the entire Ukhaa khudag operations, the company provides direct employment for around 8,000 people.
