A leading privately-owned mining company in Mongolia
Energy Resources is a Mongolian mining company established in 2005. The company has operated the Ukhaa khudag coking coal mine in Tsogttsetsii soum of Umnugobi aimag since 2009.
At Energy Resources LLC, we are committed to building an equitable, inclusive, and non-discriminatory workplace. In full compliance with relevant legislation, we actively support job applications from local residents, women, and individuals with special needs.
Energy Resources consistently ranks among the top five taxpayers in Mongolia. Since commencing operations in 2009, the company has contributed approximately ₮3 trillion to the national and local budgets in taxes, royalties, and statutory fees.
Our construction and operations have been built on the capabilities of our national workforce. As a result, around 8,000 people are directly employed under the Ukhaa Khudag project, with about 40 percent being residents of Umnugovi aimag. To date, over 1,800 people from host communities have been trained and hired at Ukhaa khudag.
To date, Energy Resources LLC has invested approximately $1.4 billion in the comprehensive development of the Ukhaa khudag mine, Coal Handling and Preparation Plant (CHPP), power and water supply infrastructure, as well as employee accommodation and local community infrastructure.
Energy Resources LLC maintains sustainable and long-term partnerships with approximately 2,500 companies across various sectors. In 2025, the company procured nearly ₮2 trillion in goods, works, and services from domestic enterprises, accounting for over 77% of its total procurement expenditure.
Since its establishment in 2005, Energy Resources LLC has fulfilled its corporate social responsibility by engaging closely with stakeholders to make tangible contributions to national and regional sustainable development. We do not see Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the narrow terms of one-off donations, aid, or short-term projects and programmes. Instead, we commit to responsible mining principles aligned with national and international standards, aiming to create a solid foundation for long-term economic growth, social well-being, and sustainable development.
In line with this commitment, our CSR Policy is modeled after the ISO 26000 Guidance on Social Responsibility (2010) and incorporates sustainability frameworks from leading international financial institutions, including the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
As part of its commitment to supporting Olympic sports and developing team sports in Mongolia, Energy Resources is now in its sixth year as the official partner of the Mongolian national basketball teams, and has worked closely with not-for-profit and public-interest organisations such as the Energy 3x3 Basketball Club NGO, the Mongolian Basketball Association NGO and the Basketball Champions Super League.
As a direct result of this collaboration, both traditional and 3x3 basketball in Mongolia have advanced year on year and improved their standing, and our national team has begun to compete in 3x3 basketball on the Olympic stage.
